Dr. Daniel R. Camacho Receives Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award

After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine with his D.M.D., Dr. Daniel R. Camacho came to the and earned his M.S. and Certificate in Orthodontics. He also completed a two-year fellowship in advanced orthodontics, the Pitts Masters Continuum.

Dr. Camacho Receiving Award from Dr. RinchuseSince 2019, Daniel has been the owner and manager of Forever Smiles Orthodontics PA in Hollywood, Fla. He is the only American Board of Orthodontics Certified Orthodontist in the city.  In addition to his practice, Daniel serves as an adjunct professor of orthodontics at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and NOVA Southeastern University. He is the youngest person to obtain the appointment at either school. 

Dr. Camacho has several publications and awards in his field, and belongs to a number of professional organizations. “These activities allow me to give back to my profession by helping to form the next generation of orthodontists and pushing them to be superb clinicians so that our profession as a whole is better able to serve our patients and the public at large,” he said. 

Dr. Camacho is fluent in Spanish and volunteers for an orphanage that his family established and runs in his native Colombia.

The Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award is one of the highest honors given to a À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ graduate. Since establishing the award in 1987, À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ has honored more than 300 Setonians as distinguished alumni. The award recognizes leadership in education, business, science and technology, the arts, volunteerism and philanthropy.
